Introducing H2-Stations: E-HRS-AS Relaunches
H2-Stations is a rebranding and a new chapter of the former E-HRS-AS.
Rebranded as the H2-Stations Initiative and managed by Spilett, ERM and EMCEL on behalf of the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, the platform now carries an expanded mission: continuing to serve the hydrogen refuelling community with reliable infrastructure data, while supporting operators in meeting their obligations under the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR). The platform is still accessible at h2-map.eu.
Same mission, strengthened for a new regulatory context
The core purpose of H2-Stations remains what it has always been: providing reliable, up-to-date information on the location and operational status of hydrogen refuelling stations across Europe, for users, operators, and stakeholders alike. But with AFIR now in force, the platform takes on an additional role within the emerging European data framework. H2-Stations is being enhanced to comply with the data reporting enforced by AFIR, positioning itself as a central support tool for the hydrogen refuelling community across Europe.
Supporting AFIR compliance for HRS operators
Under AFIR, hydrogen refuelling station operators are required to submit both static and dynamic data to national access points and competent authorities. Static data must be updated within 24 hours of any change, while dynamic data is expected to be provided in real-time (every 60 seconds), in DATEX II format. H2-Stations is provided as a voluntary service designed to simplify this process. The platform facilitates data collection, supports alignment with AFIR data quality requirements, and enables operators to assess the completeness of their submissions. The goal is to reduce the reporting burden on operators while improving the consistency and usability of hydrogen refuelling station data across Europe.
A new operational phase
This relaunch marks the beginning of a new operational phase. The initiative will focus on supporting HRS data users through the provision of reliable data, while also supporting HRS operators by facilitating alignment with AFIR. An upcoming webinar on 26 March 2026 (10:30 to 11:30) will provide an opportunity to learn more about AFIR reporting and how the H2-Stations portal supports compliance. Registration is available here.
